NCFCA - National Championship - Day 3

Still at tournament. Got to answer a lot of questions and tell a number of parents about the Seminar today. I even had one young adult (14ish) come up and was very interested, explaining that he had had prior logic classes, but wanted to expand on it! It’s always great to see young people who have a desire for learning…! BTW, I’ve given away over 5lbs of peppermints so far!

Day 2 is now done at the homeschool speech and debate tournament (ncfca.org)! Here is a quick pict looking out from our sales table… we had incredibly beautiful weather here today! Wish I wasn’t cooped up inside! I did get to help judge two sessions today - Impromptu and Apologetics.

Lord willing, I will be going to the National Christian Forensic and Communications Association’s 2010 National Championship on June 7-11th. A couple of weeks ago I helped judge at their Regional Tournament here in Birmingham, and it was an amazing time! Please pray about this opportunity, as there is much to get ready… and schedule for this to happen. If you happen to be going there, too, let me know!

The speech tournament is over, and it’s been a grueling three days for me - but well worth it. If you were there, drop me a note! I’d love to hear from you! It was a wide spectrum of presentations and genres. I really enjoyed the Apologetics - seeing young people able to defend what they believed. Also heard two great presentations on Do Hard Things!

Just got back from 1 day of judging at the homeschool speech tournament - whew, I’m exhausted! I got to judge three Lincoln Douglas debates, and was on a 3-person panel for three separate sessions. Overall, I got to listen to twenty-seven articulate and intelligent young people give excellent dramatic interpretations, ...humorous interpretations, original oratory, and debate! Very encouraging! Doing the same tomorrow!

Recuperating… can’t wait to get back to the office and start working with the video that we shot. Gave out a bunch of info cards, saw a number of people, and even got to attend one of Doug Phillip’s sessions on ‘How to think like a Christian.’ Spend some time the table of one of my distributors, answering questions about the Seminar. Will be traveling back home…

Met the homeschool family behing the Pendragon film! Got to hear a bit about the planning and work that went into making their film!  Got to meet a number of interested homeschool families, vendors, and talked with Dr. Jobe Martin today, too!

Well, the convention officially started this evening at 5 with various workshops, and went until nine with the public viewing the vendors. I was helping primarily at the Homeschool Channel table, and probably hawked about 400+ flyers to passerbys, while wearing my colonial outfit. Friday will be a long day - it will st…art in the morning all day till 9! Lord willing, we can get some filming in of certain people…

Gave out a couple of our cards today and made some contacts at the convention, seeing a couple of people that I know. This morning we were at the AIG museum, and did a little bit of filming about behind-the-scenes and the role of preplanning, strategy, and visualization in the exhibit and museum building. Definitely tired and ready for bed!
